What are Supplementary Items in Dynamics 365:

  1. In Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, supplementary items are additional items that are automatically added to sales or purchase orders based on specific rules and quantities of a main item.
  2. These items can be configured to be free of charge or at a cost, and they can be linked to specific customers, customer groups, or all customers.
  3. Supplementary items enhance the sales or purchasing process by offering related products or bonuses

without requiring manual addition.

  1. Let’s create a supplementary Item to a main
  2. Go to “Product Information management” -> Products -> Released Products -> Provide the required information.

Creating a Product in the “Released Products” menu.

Created a “Laptop Bag” as below and we are adding this product as “Supplementary” Item .

Now, go to the Product for which, we need to assign the supplementary Item(s).

For that, go to “Product Information Management -> Products -> Released products -> Related Information” and select “Supplementary purchase item”.

The below screen shows up and give the related information.

  1. Account Code: whether this supplementary item(s) is applicable to All, Group or a particular Vendor (in case of Purchase Order).
  2. Quantity limit: For Every 1, quantity limit, 1 supplementary Item should be (another example, for every 10 products of “Surface pro 128 GB”, vendor will give 1 (One) “surface pro 128 GB” free of

charge.

  1. Supplementary Item: is the item which will be an item that should be added for main
  2. Supplementary Quantity: is the quantity(s), that will be given by Vendor free of charge or on cost basis, in this example.
  3. Multiple Quantity: For Example, if we purchase 10 “Surface pro 128 GB” and Vendor gives one “Surface pro 128 GB” free of Then this feature will be helpful, we need to give 10 in this field for this scenario.

Let’s validate this supplementary Items Scenario by creating a purchase Order and add the supplementary Item(s).

Now Creation of Purchase Order to add the Supplementary Items:

Now, Select the “Purchase Order line” in the Purchase Order lines, and select “CALCULATE -> Supplementary Items”.

The below screen will appear in which the supplementary Item “LaptopBag” is showing up and if we click on OK, it will get added to the Purchase Order.

In the below screen, it got added to the Purchase Order and with zero cost. (as we select the “Free of Charge” to Yes).

We can even confirm the purchase Order as below.
